Rag for Percussion and Piano is a piece whose rhythmic ideas are based on those of ragtime piano pieces, namely those of Scott Joplin. Syncopated rhythm, as well as the jump bass accompaniment are used to replicate a ragtime feel. This piece was premiered in November, 2006 in the Music Auditorium at Michigan State University. The performance featured pianist, Martin Tate, and percussionists Steve Daily, Joseph Mundy, as well as the composer.
